Native Art - The Four Directions Empty
PostSubject: Native Art - The Four Directions   Native Art - The Four Directions EmptyThu Apr 12, 2012 12:04 pm

The following image is a representation of the Four Directions, a symbol used by the Ojibiwa First Nation.

Yellow represents the East or Rising Sun, Red the west or setting sun, White is the south, and Black is the North.

I have played around with the four directions trying to come up with something that not only represents the First Nations symbol of direction but also gave it a more native art flare.

You may have also noted that the colours seem to be watery, but they are actually cut outs from photos of real glass. To me the glass gives a warmer feeling than just plain solid colour.
