God’s Rich Tapestry

Spread across this precious land
Lies a quilt patch worked by man

Hedgerows hem lush fields of green
Forming squares so it would seem

And woven into this fine creation
That brings such joy and elation

Sits a cottage small and quaint
Longing for the artists paint

Further down yonder in the dell
Where Mother Nature casts her spell

Embroidered in soil dark and rich
Lavender forms a stocking stitch

Strands of silk disguised as cotton
In this garden once forgotten

Up ahead not far in the distance
A windmill offers no resistance

Spinning circles in the breeze
Its presence there just left to please

God’s rich tapestry now almost complete
Beneath a crimson sky with air so sweet

Evening bids farewell to day
As clouds provide their own appliqué

Pinks mauves and love in the mist
One wants to touch but must resist

A golden sun, now just a dying ember
At dusk on this last day in September

A wonderful description of that time of year. We see through your eyes as you walk along observing all these things. Smile

Thank you James, little did I know that when I wrote this in 2003 I was actually describing where I live now, there is actually windmills nearby, and lavender, and Dell in our address as we live in a Dell. Smile
